Just as there is a wide variety of people there is diversity in the many breeds of dogs. Most people who own purebred dogs select them because of certain similar characteristics. Many times pudgy grumpy people own overweight stodgy dogs such as bulldogs.

Sometimes tall thin people with long faces choose Afghan hounds and other dogs with long thin faces as pets .

Highly strung people sometimes choose miniature breeds with the same personality.

Many times people with long hair choose dogs with long floppy ears.

While you’re away your dog needs a sense of security and stability. The best choice is to hire a reliable pet sitter so that your dog is not taken out of the home environment while you’re away. Dogs adjust to change but they are pack animals used to routine and consistency.

If you leave your dog with a pet sitter, pay to have the pet sitter come to your house a minimum of twice daily. Leave out blankets and towels that you have rubbed on your head for your dog. The oils from your head will give your dog your scent. These are good to have when you have to board your dog.

If you board your dog, make sure that it has been given a vacation for boarding. Also, have a clean towel for each day that the dog is in the kennel. Leave (more…)
