   I would have bought this through Amazon, but I was in a hurry and needed it ASAP. I have mixed breed rescued dog who is part dachshund and shar pei who weighs in at about 26 pounds. We have had her a little over a year, and in spite of her small size she turned out to be pretty darn powerful. She can really figure out how to get around restrictions no matter what I do with her, so I will say she still knows how to pull with this at least in the beginning of her walk. She just doesn’t care to encounter other dogs except for the ones she has to accept because she is walking past their territory and she will walk past a couple pretending they aren’t there, but any other dogs she can get quite worked up over as she did last week when I saw a woman coming with a dog, I turned down the side street but my little Angel did see the dog and she pulled and twisted in her original harness to the point where she slipped one leg out and I had to stoop down to calm her down and get the harness back on as it belonged. This scared me because I walk next to the service drive of the I96 freeway here in Michigan. She did manage to get out of that same harness right after we bought it a year ago and we blamed ourselves for putting it on wrong before we left the house and this last time was only the second time it happened, but I didn’t want to try for 3 strikes and I’m out, so I came to Amazon to see what I thought would be a better harness for her, and that was where I found the HOLT harness and feel absolutely confident she will not get out of this one. I bought it at our pet store and paid a lot more for this small size than what Amazon is showing it for, but I was in a hurry. Plus, she measured 14 at the neck and 21 around the belly and I was afraid it may come up too small for her, but I am very glad I bought the small for her. She does have long legs and a longer snout that is more like a dachshund snout. I also have the Control Head Collar for her that I use to get her past a couple of fences where she or the other dogs get really worked up, but the problem with the Control Head Collar is she drools so bad and paws at her face so much I am worried it bothers her too much, so I take it off once I get past that point and walk her the rest of the way with just the Holt harness. I am very happy I decided to try this one.

   It is really only a couple of easy steps to put it on and adjust it. You just follow the diagrammed instructions that come with the harness to slip it on over the head and pull the front legs through the larger circle and slide the squeeze plastic adjuster down to tighten it against the dogs body. Very easy to put on.

   I will buy a backup of this collar here on Amazon in a little while.
